Last weekend, I went to the Black History Month pop-up museum hosted by the 1803 Fund. It was an important reminder of Oregon’s sinister racial history, and how education can help Oregonians move beyond their state and city’s past, and into a more inclusive future, together.
The fund, seeded with a $400 million investment from Nike co-founder Phil Knight and his wife Penny and managed by former Meyer Memorial Trust Chief Investment Officer Rukaiyah Adams, aims to support current and future generations of Black Portlanders through investments in education, place and culture and belonging in the community.
